Te Hokinga ā Wairua – End of Life Service is the second in a series of ‘life events’ portals spearheaded by the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA). It can be used as a tool to plan ahead and prepare your affairs for your own passing, or as a guide to how to manage things when someone you love has passed away.
An obviously emotionally charged issue, preparing for death isn’t something many people want to do and it can be fraught with uncertainty. Te Hokinga ā Wairua – End of Life Service presents all the services and information to guide someone through the process in one place, so they can easily see their options and obligations, and have confidence they’re not forgetting anything important.
We worked closely with DIA to come up with a look and feel for the site that is appropriate, yet unobtrusive, as well as being simple to use. During the design process we were acutely aware of the variety of cultural backgrounds and personal situations users may have, and we consulted with the community and Iwi to ensure all information was presented sensitively, with clarity and care.
